Not every dog plays the same way, and that’s okay! Some dogs love running around with energetic playmates, while others prefer a slower pace and a little more personal space. At daycare, creating groups that are a good match for each dog’s personality and play style is an important part of providing a positive experience. At Fantastic Fido’s, we divide our playgroups based on size, age, and temperament to help dogs feel comfortable, enjoy their time with friends, and have fun throughout the day.

WHY WE DIVIDE BY SIZE

Grouping dogs by size helps create a more comfortable play environment for everyone. A large, energetic dog may play differently than a smaller dog, even when both have friendly personalities. Differences in strength, weight, and play style can make it difficult for dogs of very different sizes to interact comfortably. Keeping size in mind when creating playgroups helps dogs enjoy playtime with friends who are more physically comparable.

WHY AGE MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Age can play a role in how dogs interact and how much energy they bring to playtime. Puppies often have lots of excitement and may enjoy playing with other young dogs who have similar energy levels. Adult dogs may prefer a different pace, while senior dogs may enjoy spending time with other older dogs who are looking for a more relaxed play experience. Considering age when organizing groups helps us create opportunities for dogs to interact with others who may have similar activity levels and play preferences.

UNDERSTANDING EACH DOGS TEMPERAMENT

A dog’s temperament is just as important as their size and age when determining which playgroup is the best fit. Some dogs are outgoing and love meeting new friends, while others may be more reserved or selective about their playmates. We pay attention to how dogs respond to other dogs, people, and their surroundings to better understand their personalities. This helps our team determine which dogs are likely to enjoy spending time together.
